The official unofficial Presidential Debate Scorecard – Part 1

Well well well…. that was unsurprising.

I thought Bush would try to do better than he did, but he was stumbling a lot. It seemed like every time he couldn’t think of a real answer he would just tell everyone that Kerry had “mixed messages” or “mixed signals” or that he “changes positions“…. over and over and over again…

“mixed messages/signals” – 12 times
“change/changes positions” – 5

Of course, without actually answering how he was going to solve some basic problems, Bush did assure us that it was hard work, only 11 times!!! He backed off of the “resolve/resolute” train that he’s been on for the last 3 years, only mentioning that 3 times.

The most interesting is how much of a war-monger both of these candidates are… The word war was used 40 times by Kerry and 24 by Bush. The word peace….. 8 by Bush, 7 by Kerry.

I know the war is an important issue, but isn’t it more important right now to be coming up with ways to establish Iraq as a peaceful nation?

Just my thoughts, Kerry was definitely stronger, but he should have attacked more……

Shrunken Men Pics – Not Here

Awesome.

That pretty much describes the situation when somebody finds this site by asking Jeeves for “shrunken men pics”….. I knew the spam poetry was good for something…. right?

I would link that to prove that ramblewords was the 3rd site on the search list, but that was a few days ago and now all of a sudden Jeeves has forgotten that this page ever mentioned shrunken men pics at all….

oh darn.

O’Reilly attacks!!!

Now this was a bright point in the day… CNN “Stewart’s ‘stoned slackers’? Not Quite”.

I love it:

“Viewers of Jon Stewart’s show are more likely to have completed four years of college than people who watch “The O’Reilly Factor,” according to Nielsen Media Research.”

Imagine, people.

This guy is totally screwed…. Mark David Chapman, in the mug shot above, is the guy that killed Lennon in 1981. He’s about to be up for parole. If I were him, I would want to stay in jail, check out what Lennon fans are saying they’ll do. [article from the Guardian]

Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace…

Now, I think that guy is a bastard too for taking away one of the best songwriters we have ever heard. But, if Lennon fans would pay attention to what he preached, they’d probably leave the guy alone when he was released.

California Bans SUVs

My dream come true already came true according to a Slate (MSN) article on California’s vehicle weight limits:

“Well, here’s a surprising piece of news. It may not be. Cities throughout California—the nation’s largest car market—prohibit the heaviest SUVs on many of their residential roads. The problem is, they don’t seem to know they’ve done it.”

The article is from August 4th, but news like that is always relevant in my mind. Now, if there was just a cop or two-hundred that would consider enforcing this law, we would all be happy…. (or at least I would).

Girl You Know It’s True True True True

On a Saturday, I am failing…

I’m not a fan of SNL, but it’s a good thing that live television is around to keep talentless hacks in check every once and a while. Hmmm, did I tell you what I was talking about yet? No? Ahhh…

The “amazingly talented” sister of Jessica Simpson, Ashlee, was to perform two different songs on SNL this week. Did she? Well… She thought she was going to, but the guy running the cd player forgot to skip to track 2 during the second song. So, she got confused and danced a jig. Her band, looking fashionably foolish, played along with the song they had already played that night. Wanna watch the video? You know you do.

Ok, that was hilarious, but here’s the best part. Her excuse for the screw up:

“I feel so bad my band started playing the wrong song and I didn’t know what to do so I thought I’d do a hoe-down- I’m sorry.”

That’s it chica, blame it on the band. Ahhhh, I love it.

Hey Rube : Blood Sport, the Bush Doctrine, and the Downward Spiral of Dumbness Modern History from the Sports Desk

Yeah, that’s a title if I ever saw one. ….

Anyhow, I just picked this up a week or two ago and finally got around to reading it. Definitely awesome. If you’re a fan of sports, gambling, politics, and gonzo in general, then you’ll probably get a kick out this one. Who else besides Thompson can combine stories about Johnny Depp, The 49ers, George Bush, and Aspen in one book, let alone one article…..

The Fear is Gone

Oh Boy, there’s no reason to be scared anymore. Colin Powell has officially removed Iraq from the “List of State Sponsors of Terrorism“. Everything is okay again now that we’re there to protect the Iraqi people. I can now wake up every morning and be thankful that Iraq is no longer helping Al Qaeda spread terrorism.

Don’t delete your messages, we’ll delete them for you…

Being on a little Google kick today, I figured I should add one more post about them.

I just noticed this message in my Gmail Trash section after I deleted 60 or so messages that had no chance of me ever wanting to view them again:

Warning: Trashed messages more than 30 days old will be automatically deleted.

No conversations in the trash. Who needs to delete when you have 1000 MB of storage?!

Uhhh, yeah… you don’t want me to delete them, but you’re going to delete them automatically after 30 days? Hmmm…. whatever, gmail still rules….

Side note: I just noticed that they gave me 4 more invitations to pass out all of a sudden. Here’s the deal, so that I can figure out if real people read this rambling or not, the first 4 people who leave a comment get a Gmail invite (if they want one). Easy as pie and you save $1.50 on E-Bay.

Virtual Window

Following geek with more geek…. This guy built a Virtual Window above his fireplace. That’s actually pretty cool. Pretty geeky, but pretty cool….
